Buddie

The study companion that never goes online.

Buddie is a small white box with a screen, a camera and a push-to-talk button. Ask it a question and it answers — with every byte of the thinking happening inside the box.

The problem

Online AI comes with the whole internet attached.

Feeds, tabs, recommendations and one more video. Buddie removes the internet from the equation, so a study session stays a study session — and your questions never leave the room.

  • 6GBon-board RAM
  • 5″touchscreen

(02) The fix

Close every tab.
Keep the answer.

Scroll, and watch the internet leave the room. What’s left is one question, one answer, and a box that physically can’t open a feed.

Inside

Engineering,
not decoration.

01 / 04

A case with 445 holes

3D-printed and perforated with 445 holes, each Ø2.25 mm, on a staggered 7 × 12 mm grid — so the speaker can breathe and the electronics stay cool. Every hole on this page is drawn from the real CAD file.

02 / 04

Built to be carried

A slim enclosure (152 × 229 mm front) with a rocker switch that physically cuts the power. No standby. No “it was listening the whole time”.

03 / 04

Everything inside the box

The front lifts away from the base. Inside: a Radxa Cubie A7A (Allwinner A733, 6 GB RAM), microphone, speaker, camera and a battery bay. All the thinking happens here.

04 / 04

A 5-inch window into it

The touch panel sits in the opening on the lower left. Push to talk, read the answer, put it down.

What it does

Six modules. Zero tabs.

Decisions.

  1. 01

    Why a single-board computer

A phone would be easier. It would also come with an app store, a browser and notifications. A dedicated board makes “offline” a physical fact, not a setting.

  2. 02

    Power you can trust

A hard rocker cut-off and a single-cell Li-Po design keep the electronics simple and safe to carry.
